WORCESTER\RUTLAND – Mary Louise (Hehir) Sullivan, 76, formerly of Worcester and Rutland and currently of Millbury died on Thursday, September 25th, after a courageous three year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter, Trish Craig.

Mary was born to the late Thomas and Grace (Goeckeler) Hehir, August 15, 1932 in Boston, MA. She moved to Worcester, where she graduated from Sacred Heart High Academy and earned her bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education from U-MASS. She worked in the Head Start Program and the Worcester Public School System, retiring in 1997 from Chandler Magnet Elementary School of Worcester. Mary was a very dedicated teacher and was a recipient of the Worcester Public School's first annual Thomas Jefferson Award. She was a long time member of Saint Columba Church of Paxton, where she taught CCD.

Mary leaves her loving children, Carol Ann Sullivan of Sturbridge, Doreen wife of Kurt Eiser of Oceanside, CA, Patricia wife of Gerry Craig and David and his wife Marybeth Sullivan of Millbury, Robert Sullivan and his companion Dorothy Doolittle of Sutton, James Sullivan of Worcester, John Sullivan and his wife Tammy of Dunbarton, NH and Timothy Sullivan and his companion Lisa MacLeod of Rutland; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four sisters, Patricia Wickham of New Jersey, Kathleen Dagle of Worcester, Carol Quinn of Shrewsbury, Judith Donnellan of Centerville; two brothers, John Hehir of Sterling and William Hehir of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Robert M. Sullivan, a son Michael Sullivan, a grandson, Nicholas Sullivan, a brother, Robert Hehir and a sister Grace Ethier. Mary's family wishes to give their heart felt thanks to the Jewish Home Hospice.

Her funeral will be held Monday, September 29th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are p.m. 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 28th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
